Katie is quite possibly the coolest bride ever. She’s laid back, SUPER fun, so nice, and just, well, awesome. She is the girl you want in your corner. The one who is up for anything. Who will dance all night with you on the dance floor. Who will cheer you on and cheer you up. She likes sports (and can run circles around most people in just about any athletic situation). She’s the bride who has two pairs of Tom’s for her wedding day. A ‘walk down the aisle’ white pair, and a blue ‘party’ pair. She’s pretty great. So it’s only expected that whoever she married would be equally as fun, caring, nice, supportive, and well, awesome too. Which is exactly what Chris is. These two really were the perfect way to end my wedding season in 2013. They couldn’t have been more fun to photograph and they just wanted to have a great time celebrating with their nearest and dearest.

They had such a classy winter affair in Richmond, with the ceremony at Monumental Church and the reception at the John Marshall Ballroom. Both teams from Events by Elizabeth Palmer and the John Marshall Ballroom did such a great job at making it the perfect day. Before the ceremony, we headed to the Virginia State Capitol for pictures and to take in the crisp December air. I loved the shawl Katie wore over her dress, and guys in tuxes? My favorite! It was such a sophisticated wedding from start to finish, with so many amazing moments. Two of my favorites were during Katie and Chris’ first dance to “I Wont Give Up” by Jason Mraz. Not only did all of her girlfriends serenade them at the top of their lungs as they danced, but Katie’s nephew stole the show. He was absolutely adorable and was mesmerized by the band, The Venture Rays. I loved how each table was accentuated with a picture of a memorable Richmond landmark, too. From the famous Talhimers building to various monuments around the city, it was such a great way to honor the history of the city and the fact that their reception was taking place in a historic Richmond landmark.They really brought so much personality to their day, and it was such a joy to be a part of it all!

Katie and Chris, thanks for giving me the honor of capturing these moments and memories for you! I didn’t want to leave at the end of the night (if you couldn’t tell) and I had such a great time with you both! It really was a privilege and I wish you guys the best as you start your life together. Katie, this might mean that a lot more UNC game watching lies ahead in your future, but if I know you, you will turn anything into a good time!
